Church Bells
Bells have been ringing in St Mary’s Church since at least the reign of Elizabeth I (1558 – 1603).
Today the tower is home to ten bells, all of which were added in the 19th century (1869 – 1877) and made by the Whitechapel Bell Foundry.
The bells are rung by the St Mary’s tower bell ringers from the ringing chamber, directly above the West door of the church.
