St Mary’s Church, Beddington secured a National Lottery Heritage Fund grant of £209,600 to support its project: Restoring and Celebrating the Arts and Craftsmanship of St Mary’s Church, Beddington, taking place from July 2021 – June 2023.
This two year project comprises of capital repairs on the Western tower roof, masonry repairs including structural pinning, and guttering repairs to prevent damage to the internal structure and monuments.
Alongside the capital works is a new activity programme centred around the beautiful art and artefacts within the church, and the craftsmanship that went into their creation.
St Mary’s has worked with a range of community partners, including the BRIT School, Sutton Archives, Honeywood Museum and Carew Academy to bring the church’s art and history to life, and to celebrate the church and the local community through a range of engagement projects, activities and events.
